Since Coal Junction was founded in the late 19th century, Lake Whitney has been a mysterious place. A small lake would be expected to draw a crowd, at least during the summer months. But not Lake Whitney. With immeasurably deep water levels, and a consistent year-round temperature of just over 40 degrees, the lake is an enigma. People don't swim in the lake. They don't go boating. They don't fish. They keep a respectful distance from the fog-enshrouded lake. Because of legends. Rumours of things living in the lake. Bad things. And the true disappearance of 7 year-old Danny Sims into the lake in March of 1967. Whatever the truth is, Lake Whitney has killed before. And people don't take chances. |
