The Sinkhole
On the outskirts of Old Coal Junction lies a sinkhole. A deep, dark hole in the ground.
For many years, it had been the equivalent of any town's "Lovers Lane", where eager teenagers partake in heavy petting.
This location became the source of one of the town's most bizarre investigations.
In July of 1976, the nation's bicentennial, seven high school seniors known around school as an "anti-social clique", disappeared.        Their cars, clothes, and identification were found at the lip of the sinkhole.
Due to the depth of the sinkhole, no effort to recover any bodies was ever mounted, and it was presumed the teenagers had some sort of suicide pact.
But the truth has never truly been uncovered, and the sinkhole remains an ominous place with the pall of death cast upon it.
  Visitors are no longer allowed.
