| Junction Shaft |
![]() |
| The old mine shaft around which the town of Coal Junction was founded in 1883. Junction Shaft stayed operational until November 3rd, 1937. On that day, The primary shaft collapsed, trapping 60 miners. The collapse was devastating. No survivors were found, and no bodies were ever recovered in the rubble. The shaft practically closed overnight, and the town wilted from a booming 9,000 citizens to a meager 800. T The number has since grown, but the mine was never excavated. Within, it is untouched, left exactly as it was in 1937. The town's homeless won't even go near the old mine. And former Mayor Thomas Raine has gone on record saying some pretty extravagant things regarding the old shaft, things that won't be mentioned here. |
