Who is Merle/Merulu you ask?

Quite simply she is a cat girl, one of the anthropomorphic races
that live on the planet Gaea, in the anime series Tenkuu no
Escaflowne (The Vision of Escaflowne). Abandoned as a young kitten, she
was found by Balgus and adopted into the Fanel Royal Family,
and given to Van Fanel as a playmate. She grows up with
him, and has a fierce crush and attachment to Prince Van(and who
can blame her, he's mucho mucho cuute) ;)She sees Hitomi, another
character who is magically transported to Gaea from Earth, as a rival
and an obstruction to her private Van time. Unfortunately, Van doesn't see
Merle-chan as more than a best friend and companion, though he is very
loyal to her.

Merle and Van Sama' Aww!

Personality:

Combined with her mega kawaii appearance, Merle's personality is a
major reason why I just loove this neko! She is playful and fiesty,
and loves to play jokes on Hitomi by stealing her stuff and scaring
her by hissing. She has all the cuteness of a little girl
along with her cat side, which comes out, in the constant
swishing of her long striped tiger tail. Her tail reflects her moods,
and if shes angry, it puffs out...(SO Kawaii! >^t^<) She
also has been known to run on all fours like a cat, and I'm
sure she has reason to use her claws for something (I havent seen
the whole series yet so I don't know.)She is very clingy
and worshipful of Van-sama, and has a million different ways of
greeting him. She always calls out 'Vaaa-samaa!', and likes to wrap
her widdle arms around his neck, lick his cheek
(isnt that JUST like a cat) and swish her tail about happily.
She will do anything to help or defend her dear dear van in battle
or otherwise. She's loyal to the core to him, and that makes
her even more loveable! In short, this is why she deserved a shrine. ;)

Long live Merle-Chan!
