Tech 18
Tech 18 is a great advance in surface engineering technology. It is diffusion type process where nano sized cermet particles are impregnated into the surface lattices of steels and cast iron to provide scuff, wear and corrosion resistance.

Components in automotive and earthmoving equipment are benefitted by this process.

As it is not a coating, the change in dimensions are negligible.

This process competes with oxidation coatings of steels and cast irons. Iron oxide spinel (FeO.Fe2O3) is not fully dense and still has a porosity. That is why some of the processes recommend sealing with wax.

Tech 18 is completely dense and very hard.
