The Cardinal Tetra is a popular aquarium fish and is often confused with the Neon Tetra.  The main difference between them is the color, the Neon Tetras have less red on the middle of their body than the Cardinal Tetras does and the Cardinal Tetras are a little bigger. (1.8" - 1.6")
The Cardinal Tetra is a great fish to have in an aquarium, they are active and should be kept in groups of at least 5 or more.  The prefer to have plenty of plants, floating plants and also driftwood. The tank should dimly lit not real bright or direct light.  They should also only be kept with smaller fish, because the bigger fish have a tendency to attack them or even kill them.
Males are slimmer than the females.
