| There are three angelfish species. The most common in the trade I think is Pterophyllum scarlae. They need a tank over 40 gallons, and are somewhat shy, but can be aggressive to certain fish for sure. Their natural food is cardinal tetras, so small tetras (especially tetras that are introduced after the angels in the tank) may get eaten. Larger tetras are fine though, like long finned tetras, Congo tetras, emperor tetras, etc. They like soft acidic water with a lot of plants, maybe some driftwood. They like to be in groups, feed a varied diet of high protein foods, live and dry, and keep water quality excellent through water changes at least every other week. They come in many color varieties, and are somewhat delicate. They like high temps, 80 around or so. | |||||||||||
