WSIWYG - Freeware

CoolPage - free but donations accepted. This is a drag-and-drop editor like SiteBuilder but better, so claims the makers of CoolPage. After trial the period, the upgrade eliminates the ads.
FrontPage Express - no longer distributed by Microsoft; this is an alternative download site so use at your own risk. Seventh link down the page. There's a tutorial for using FP Express on this site, also, which is why they offer it.
IMS Web Dwarf v.2 - unlimited trial period; upgrade to paid product, Web Spinner.

WSIWYG - Shareware

CuteSITE Builder 4.0 ($69.99 download or CD (U.S. only); add shipping charges to CD; add another $45 if you want maintenance added. Maintenance includes live technical support and free upgrades for 12 months) template-driven.

NetObjects Fusion MX ($99.95) Not for Windows XP.
SiteSpinner 2.5 ($49) 15-day trial period. Download is from CNet or download from Virtual Mechanics directly.

HTML - Freeware

TO BE DISCONTINUED!AceHTML 5.08.5 - from Visicom Media; download is through CNet. Note: on 9/5/03 my anti-virus found a trojan horse in two separate zip downloads of AceHTML 5. Check your download with your anti-virus and anti-spyware software before installing. As of Feb. 7, 2005, freeware versions and support of AceHTML will be discontinued. If you want to try it, download it NOW.
NEWAlleycode 2.0 - free and donationware - for new and veteran coders alike, this HTML editor features a tutorial for newcomers but is "fast and accurate" with a "non-bloated infrastructure" for seasoned coders. It handles CSS and PHP using wizards. You can view in real time how your code looks on your page. If you need help there are online tutorials, support form, and a forum.
Arachnophilia 5.2 build 1902 - by Arachnoid but download link is at CNet.com; careware. Not for Windows XP.
Araneae - donationware. "A tool that provides only the features necessary to create stunning websites with all the latest web technologies. Araneae will not seize control of your code, leaving its interface astonishingly uncluttered and easy to use." Quoted from the web site.
Wolf Web Editor Basic 2.4 - For webmasters who already know some HTML. Includes a preview pane so you can see your pages. Download is from CNet.

HTML - Shareware

CoffeeCup HTML Editor 9.6 ($49 download) - this may contain adware or spyware. Download is through CNet.
CuteHTML ($19.99 download or $59.99 with maintenance) - this may contain adware.

HotDog Professional ($99.95 download) - full-featured editor. Check out the page to see all you get.
Koala HTML 1.0.5 ($19.95 download) - readers at CNet are mixed about this product. Seems to be pretty basic and maybe even comparable to NotePad. Does have syntax highlighting. For this price, which is really cheap, don't expect to get tons of goodies and features. Former version (1.0.1) was $24.95.
Macromedia HomeSite 5.5 ($99 but download a free 30-day trial version first) - customizable, lean web development tool. Included in Dreamweaver MX.
