David Griffiths' website,
www.spigots.com, is unavailable. You can obtain the necessary
files for this applet from 1Archive.com.
David included an extensive tutorial in the zip file which
explains all of the parameters, contains demos, and includes a
few photographs that he used for the demos.
The applet itself is
pretty simple like the one for his original snow
applet. Nothing too complicated here. I've used a
photograph from FreeFoto.com
in my demo to the left.
The photograph's real
dimensions are 125 wide by 83 high. In order for the
applet to work properly and show the shimmering lake
effect, calculate double the height of the image and use
that for the height of the applet. In the example
above, it's 166 (83x2).
Other parameters
available to this applet is the option of putting in
an overlay image, which is another image on top of the
background image, and an underwater view. David
explains all that in his "read me" tutorial.
Be sure to upload all
of the files to your Files Directory: the .class file
and all images you use.
