Ramblings is a site hosting a collection of poems, sketches, and essays by Fordham University students, alumni, and teachers. Anyone wishing to contribute may do so by emailing [email protected]. (Use ".gif" format if sending sketches, and ".txt" format essays and poems, if possible.) This collection first began as small clippings of poems and drawings by webmaster Mike Tartàglia. Various poems were published in The Paper, which is Fordham University's student-run journal of comment and review. The paper clipbook was beginning to deteriorate, so there was an effort to upgrade the art to a more lasting, electronic form. Named in tribute to Fordham's mascot (the ram), Ramblings was opened on the Internet in the Autumn semester of 2000. The main goal of Ramblings is to attempt to help Fordham poets and authors come together under a common roof. This site is a forum for free-exchange of thoughts, beliefs, and dreams. Of course, there is a hope to achieve some recognition as well! Please feel free to browse around the poetry, essay, and sketch collections while you are here. Give us some feedback while you are here as well. Wait! A special offer! If your Web browser is new, and you would like to surf Ramblings with greater ease, check out our frames layout. And for all you wise guys out there, who are hoping to snag a free essay, listen up: The essays on this site are commentary. They are written just as poems are, but happen to be in prose form. In fact, some essays are fiction; some are really brief short stories. All poems, essays, and sketches are published under consent of the poet/artist, and may not be copied, reproduced, or sold without his or her written permission. Afterall, it is their rightful property. |
