The British Shorthair is a compact cat, well balanced and powerful, showing good depth of body, a broad chest, short legs, rounded paws and a thick tail. The head is round with good width between small ears, round cheeks, firm chin, large round eyes and a short broad nose. The coat is short and dense. A muscular cat with an alert appearance and in perfect physical condition.
The British Shorthair comes in many different coat colours but the most popular and well known colour is blue.
These lovely cats make wonderful pets, they are very hardy and not at all prone to sickness. They are affectionate, although totally independent. However, they do enjoy company and will follow you around like a dog.
