What is Mr Secure?
With the internet becoming a powerful medium, it has become inevitable that
each one of us have registered ourselves with numerous web sites for the services
they provide. Whether we like it or not, We will have to remember all the IDs and
the passwords. This becomes a pain in the neck over a period of time. Hence, comes
the requirement for a storage of personal data so that no one else knows.. Mr Secure
comes into play here. With a friendly user interface and an inbuilt database, and at less
than 50kb, this is probably the best such tool to have come out. I am not making any claims
though!
Like in any web site , you can create an account, change your password, delete your account
and do all that you want. Importantly, you can have a record of the various usernames and
passwords along with the site name.
Mr Secure stores data in the format below.
| Mail ID/ID | password | Site Name |
-
The Mail ID/Id corresponds to the site account ID or your email ID That you hold.
-
The password is the password for the username that you have specified
-
The Site name holds a significant part because you could have the sam ID for different Sites.
The site name helps in resolving this ambiguity.
OK. Let us now look at how to go about using Mr Secure
- The first time you launch Mr Secure, you will get a dialog like the one below.
.
The message speaks for itself. Assuming that you have not created an ID, let us proceed to the next step.
-
You will get a screen like the one below
.
You can choose a user name and password of your choice. As seen before, the first time a
user is created, you are required to close the application and restart. This is due to the fact
that a lot of work is done internally. For subsequent users however, this need not be done.
The next step tells you what the main screen looks like once a user is created.
-
The main screen ie the login screen looks like this
.
There are two fields for logging yourself on to Mr Secure. Also, from here, you can create
users (As in the previous step. The only difference is that the user creation dialog appears as
a popup) by accessing the Create User Option in the User Menu.
You can enter with your login Id and Password (for Mr Secure) and start adding entries using the
Add Entry Option in the Users/Existing Users Menu.
Let us assume that your login ID is test and the password is test too.
Let us add an entry into your database, say
User ID = test Password = test and Site Name = www.java.sun.com
The Add Entry Dialog Box looks Like This.
.
On adding further data, you will get more rows.
Now what are the Encrypt and Decrypt options for?
Assume you are viewing your data when you see someone sneaking up. All you have to do is to
press the Encrypt button to ensure that your data looks confusing (even to you). If that person
knows no computers, you are in luck. Any way, it is a simple way to protect your data from spying eyes. After
you are sure you don't have company, just press the Decrypt button to get back your data.
This is how Encrypted Data looks!
.
Great isn't it?
You can choose to delete any entry you would like to by keying in the ID and site name. And in a click,
your data is deleted!
(Remember, Mr Secure is Case sensitive, and it has been built so, keeping in mind that
almost all the sites support case sensitivity.)
Like data, users can also be removed. Say your long time friend or even your granny is no longer going to
use the tool, there is no point in wasting memory. You can happily delete the entries and the user info by
simple keying in the username and password of the user. You will get a confirmation message and assuming you confirm,
the user and his/her data is deleted.

System Requirements
Jadu requires JRE 1.3.1 or higher for Swing Support. This may prove to be a catch.
But it can be obtained from The Official Java Web Site, www.java.sun.com.
It is worth the download, because, Java is set to take over the desktop as well.
