My present job is that of Director, Central Institute of Post Harvest Engineering and Technology, an apex institution under Indian Council of Agricultural Research, India. Our mandate is to develop technologies to reduce the post harvest losses and develop novel value added products suitable for Indian socio economic system.
During my research journey in Agricultural Research Service (ARS) of 28 years, during this professional journey over 100 papers have been published and given over 100 presentations in National and International Seminars. Authored 5 books and contributed 5 book chapters. I have worked on processing of rice, plantation crops, alfalfa, pulses and soybean. My areas interest have been drying, process/product development, physical properties, extrusion cooking etc. Developed 15 small scale food processing machines, 5 processes and established 3 pilot plants and contributed to two US patents filed by WSU and USDA. I have trained more than 450 enterprenurs in soybean processing and about 150 of them have established their own enterprise.
I am very proud to be an agricultural engineer. I believe that through agricultural engineering applications only we can solve the problem of food and clothing for ever expanding population of the world. I am presently serving Indian Society of Agricultural Engineers as its Vice President (Technical). I am a fellow of Institution of Engineers (India).
I had a pleasure of working as Visiting Scientist at Washington State University, Pullman with Dr. Juming Tang and USDA Albany with Dr. Jose Berrios on "Development of value added products from legume and potato using extrusion cooking technology"
