| Shadrach Howell's ante-bellum home was the Post Office which opened again in 1877 with Shadrach Howell as Postmaster. It remained open until 1913 when its mail was assigned to Lumberton, N.C. Shadrach's home was wooden three-story with winding stairway with parts of it put together with wooden pegs. It was located on north side of Howell Road between Howellsville Crossroads and the Ten Mile Swamp in Robeson County, N.C. The exact date it burned is not known at the present time. Howellsville had a Post Office from 1849 until 1913, however it was closed for a period during the Civil War. Jimmy D. Howell |
