| This trail begins at US Forest Service Road 655 and ends at Trapper Campground on Upper Priest Lake. It's the best groomed trail in the Priest Lake Ranger District. It passes through the forest for about 4 miles before it begins to follow along the east shore of the lake. Coolin's cabin is located in the forest just a short distance before the lake comes into view from the trail. | The parking area and trailhead for 302 are located on Road 655 just 0.3 mile from the intersection of Road 655 and Road 1013. Coming from Road 1013, parking is on the left and the trailhead on the right. Refer to my writeup for Trail 308 for directions to US Forest Service Road 655. Road 655 continues on to the Lionshead Unit of Priest Lake State Park at Mosquito Bay. |

| Trapper Campground can be reached via waterways. Travel is from the Beaver Creek Boat Launch to the Thorofare entrance on Priest Lake, then through the Thorofare to Upper Priest Lake. Trapper is at the far end of the lake from the Thorofare. Navigation Campground lies across the lake from Trapper and is visible from the Trapper Campground. |
