Trail 138
South Skookum Lake
South Skookum Lake is easily accessed from Priest River, Idaho. Drive west from Priest River on U.S. Highway 2. Just before the bridge across the Pend Oreille River, turn right onto LeClerc Road and follow it for about 20 miles until you come to the bridge into Usk. Don't cross the bridge. Turn right at the bridge onto County Road 3389. Proceed about 4 miles until you come to a "Y" in the road near the King's Lake Snowmobile Parking Area. Bear right at the "Y" (i.e., stay on Road 3389). About 2.5 miles from the "Y" you will see the entrance sign to South Skookum Campground. Turn east into the campground and park in the overflow lot. Walk down to the boat launch. There you will find the trailhead. The trail circles the lake (only 1.3 miles with a 65 foot elevation change) and ends in the campground near the overflow parking area.
