Trail 314
Hughes Ridge
To reach the trailhead, take Highway 57 north out of Priest River until it becomes US Forest Service Road 302. Continue on Road 302 to Granite Pass. Take Road 1013 out of Granite Pass to Road 662. It's 22 miles from the beginning of Road 302 to Road 662. Turn onto Road 662 and follow it for two miles to Road 1343. Follow Road 1343 for five miles to a "Y" in the road. Park at the "Y" and look around for the trail - see notes next to photogrpahs for more details.

<<== If you look around in the trees near the parking area, the trail will suddenly appear as it did in this photograph.
The "Y" in the road ==>>
The fork to the right leads to a gate. Hiking the road beyond the gate forms the begining of Trail 315 which leads to the Shedroof Divide. it also leads to the junction with the Cabinet Pass Trail.

The fork to the left dead ends in a wide open area that offers plenty of room for parking and enough room to turn a truck and trailer around.
My truck at the trailhead.
There's plenty room for parking.
<<== The trail is hiding amongst the trees near the "Y" in the road!
