Trail 122
Delyle Ridge
Located in the Green Monarchs near the Clark Fork River Valley, Delyle Ridge is dominated by an abandoned L-4 fire lookout cabin perched atop the rocks at an elevation of 4394 feet.

From Sandpoint, take Highway 200 east 25 miles to Clark Fork, Idaho. In downtown Clark Fork, take Stevens Street and cross the Clark Fork River. Go left after crossing the bridge.
Travel for 6 miles to Dry Creek Road (Road 203). Turn right onto Road 203 and go 6.5 miles to Delyle Forks; there make a sharp right onto Road 203E. After 1.3 miles, Road 203E deadends at the trailhead. You will find a large parking area there.

View from the Lookout View from the Lookout
From the traihead to the abandoned lookout is about 1.5 miles. The first mile is a casual hike through the forest over rolling terrain with occassional views of the Clark Fork River and the Cabinet Gorge Dam. The last half mile is quite steep. As you near the top of the Ridge, keep a sharp eye out for signs of the old lookout. There is a very limited view of the lookout from the trail as it climbs upwards.

It's easy to miss the last swithchback on the trail that leads directly to the old lookout. And if you miss the switchback you will soon find yourself edging along a very steep ridgeline on an almost non-existent old trail that leads to the crest; however, you will be rewarded for your effort with some magnificent views of the Green Monarchs.
