Mexican-born guitarist Carlos Santana became a superstar in the late 1960s with a string of hits and an appearance at the famous Woodstock rock festival in 1969. Then, after several quiet decades, he experienced a huge popular renaissance. Santana's 1999 album Supernatural, featuring collaborations with current rock and pop stars such as Lauryn Hill, captured a record-tying eight Grammy Awards and sold millions of copies.
