All Figures are from Outpost Miniatures.

The Khmer King 1xEl(Gen))

I painted the elephant white for two reasons, first the traditional symbol of royality, second the tatoos on the elephant stand out better.

Khmer Noble (1xEl)

The noble is a modified Khmer javilinman, the parsol holder is a modified Phkakman, the howdah comes with the model.

Khmer Officer Corp (1xCv)

According to H.G. Quaritch Wales book "Ancient South-East Asian Warfare" Cavalry was not widely used by the Khmer. It is suspected that the Cavalry shown on the Angkor Wat bas-reliefs reflect the officer corp of the Khmer Army.

Khmer Tank (1xArt)

This model is simply "the Bomb."

Khmer Long Shield Infantry (2xAux)

Khmer Round Shield Infantry (2xAux)

Khmer Foot soldiers(4 x 4Aux)

The bulk of the Khmer army are good old fashion infantry. There are two types of "Grunts" identified in the DBM Army III list book. Long Shields and Short Shields. I have seen the two different shield types represented on the Bas-Reliefs. The shield designs are inspired by the historical reference of a Chinese traveler to the Khmer. He stated the shields the top half of the khmer shields were decorated. The Short "round" shield Grunts look like Cham infantry (based on the unique headgear they sport) I opted for rich colors for the Auxilia coats based on a book titled "Threads of Time" and personal observation during travels to Southeast Asia

Khmer Archers(2x 4Bw)

No real reason for painting the bows with alternating bands. I just like the way it makes these elements stnad out.

Khmer Skirmishers (2Psx2)

These figure are from the Outpost Miniatures Burmese range. I think all of the Outpost Levy Burmese miniatures could pass for Siamese, Vietnamese, or Khmer levy

Khmer Phkak men(1x3Bd)

I just don't buy that the Phkak looks like a pole arm. This view is supported by my recent visit to the Bangkok Thai History museum. There an oddly shaped sickle displayed in the royal weapons room. The plaque below the weapon labels its as a Khmer sickle. This combined with the recent Thai movie "King Naresuan" show the young Naresuan cutting weeds at the direction of the head monk. The tool the young king is using looks very much like the weapon I saw at the mueseum. Below is a picture of the weapon I saw at the Thai museuem (this is not a picture of the weapon I saw at the muesum, since photographs were not allowed in the weapons room without special permission, which I did not have time to obtain) It is picture I found the internet of a Khmer Sickle.

Khmer Thai allies(1x3Aux)

I believe this optional element represents the Thai Allies that are depicted on the Bas-reliefs. According to Quartrich, the Thais (Siamese) favored a sword rather than the sickle (phkak)

Khmer Maiden Guard (1x4Aux) or Camp Followers

These young ladies are destined to be the armies camp followers. However, in a pinch I can use them as an extra Aux unit. I had fun painting the skirts anyway.

Khmer Village Camp Element

Khmer Temple Gate BUA?

Khmer Ruins BUA?

Khmer Tower BUA?

Khmer Misc statutes, I am hoping that the Siamese Figures will be produced by Eureka's 300 Club soon.

Khmer Camp pieces

I collected a number of Khmer and Southeast asian items that could be used for a Khmer Camp and/or BUA. I am still stumped on exactly what I will use.
