Rob and I have been together for nearly five years. On Saturday, September 25th, we were harassed and insulted by a salesperson from the Coral Springs Automall.
We visited the dealership on Wednesday, September 21st and we learned that the car we wanted was not in stock. We left our information with the salesperson, and he said that he would call us when he had it in.
On Saturday, September 25th, the salesperson left a message informing us that the car was in. He then hung up the phone. The sales person did not realize the call did not end/hang up. Our answering machine then recorded him spouting anti-gay comments, using an exaggerated effeminate lisp, laughing and commenting about the way we looked.
Rob and I had guests in our home when we played the message for the first time. We have never felt so humilitated, violated and invaded upon, infront of friends and family.
When we contacted the dealership, the sales manager asked that we play the tape for him. His response was that he was sorry, but not responsible for his employees' actions.
We are disgusted with this behavior. We intend to make their negative and or lax opinion about the gay community known. Rob and I gave the dealership an opportunity to make it right, but they chose not to do anything but push the blame. That is completely unacceptable.
