Hello,
My name is Raka.I'm looking for an opportunity to work for a potential & growing software company in the telecommunication domain that produces IMS applications or application platform. I think I have the capabilities and qualifications to perform as a software development engineer for development of that types of system. I hope you would find that too. Here's a little bit about my qualification and work.
I'm
30 years-old, software development engineer, with more than 6 years
experience developing applications, based mainly in Java and the
Object-Oriented Analysis and Design principles. Currently I live and work in Mexico City. I speak indonesian, english, and spanish fluently. I've
been involved in a project where we develop a dynamic-IVR system for a
national telecomunication service provider in Mexico, using SIP Servlet
and VoiceXML. My role since I joined the project in its late-phase
is bringing it to the closure. That involves bug-fixings, filling-in
the missing functions specified in the requirement, coordinate
testings, and communicates progress to completion with the client.
After several weeks of hitting various technical issues related to the
current architecture and implementation (with deployment in cluster and
lack-of data integrity being the most pressing issue), it was agreeed
to rewrite the whole project that was already taking 6 months. I've just accomplished that re-write in 3 weeks period.
This
is my second time being in Mexico. During 2007 I worked in Shanghai for
Microsoft Shanghai (Windows Servers and Tools Business Division).
My role was Software Development Engineer, involved in the development
of Windows Essential Business Server (was codenamed Centro). What I learned from my experience there
-- apart from a good company culture and prractice with the hiring and
people development (they have this regular commitment settings, regular
one-to-one sessions for evaluating performance, positive try-to-help
and be-resourceful attitude, etc) -- is testing methodologies and practices.
The team in Shanghai for the project was tasked to develop test cases,
execute test cases, automate them, find bugs (from the regular tests,
or bi-weekly bug-bash), report bugs, and drive them to the closure
(that means once you report a bug, you own the bug, and you're directly
responsible for making sure it's closed).
That particular experience doing software testing influenced me a lot in my attitudes in developing software and my future career choices. I'll be glad to help making sure that the tests are planned and carried out well (as a part of a bigger quality assurance initiative). I hope I can
put what I learned from the colleagues -- the software development
engineers in tests, test leads, and test managers that I admire for
their hardwork, knowledge, and learning attitude -- and my
detail-orientedness and tendency for perfection into a productive use.
Another area where I think I can make a notable contribution is technical writing and presentation.
I've written and published a book (in Indonesian) about 7-8 years ago, with a topic "Java Programming"
(at that time Java programming was still a newborn in Indonesia). The
feedback I received from the readers were very encouraging. Many of them used the book when they started to learn Java. Some of
them becomes co-workers in the software development company in island
of Bali that I joined (Sigma-Balicamp).
That's how it all started, and in 2006 I wrote a booklet on "Telephony Application Development with Java, SIP, and Asterisk" I made it available online (http://www.geocities.com/rakabali78/booklet1). The comments from people around the world who downloaded it were very heartwarming. Nice thank you notes for having written the booklet, as it helped them learning or doing thesis / projects. Queries about the tools I used to make the illustrations. Nice comments about the writing style. Even a suggestion to write a book. And to top it off, the very positive comments I received from the tutor in the technical writing class I attended during my stay
in Redmond. That motivates me to keep honing that skill, and look for ways
to use it in productions.
These days I started to explore another venue, YouTube. You're very welcome to see the samples that I've organized in http://www.geocities.com/rakabali78/ezivr.html.
There are other test-cases not presented in those videos. Moreover,
additional videos are coming up by the end of this month that will give
more details on the design and the implementation techniques.
Thank you for taking the time to read this highlights of my career and career objectives. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
My complete CV is available in http://www.geocities.com/rakabali78/curriculum_raka.pdf (just a kind reminder: right-click, save-as :) - opening PDF in web browser can cause trouble sometimes....). Version espaņol: http://www.geocities.com/rakabali78/curriculum_raka_es.pdf.
