NHU DAYA Bhintuna

B. L. Shrestha - President, NPPA

On this special occasion of the New Year NEPA SAMBAT 1119, Nepa Pasa Puchah would like to extend special greetings to all its members and friends.

Once again, around the traditional "BHOYE ", (feast) -aey we are gathering to meet old friends and greet new ones. I'ts time to share our experiences and celebrate our old tradition.

Our Newa community feels that it is important to preserve one's heritage, language, and traditions, especially, in this far away land. NPPA is trying to fulfill this role by conducting special programs and activities. As technology brings all of us closer we are learning a lot more about our culture and our homepage has been visited by people from around the world.

It's very important for everyone of us to understand the role, the need, and the meaning of this organization. The stronger the organization becomes, the better off the community will be; the more united its members are, the easier it will be for the organization to achieve its goal. Your strong participation will make this organization most viable and successful.

The most important part in this endeavor is to understand our ROOTS. As the World becomes a small planet, people are loosing their identity. We might have a Newari name, but our new generation is becoming westernized. The values, perceptions and identity is changing rapidly.

We are very fortunate to have families like SHRESTHAS PRADHANS, AMATYAS, SHAKYAS, RAJBHANDARIES, MANANDHARS, JOSHIS, MAHARJANS, TULADHARS, MALAKARS, TAMRAKARS, PRJAPATIES to help plan our program. It's important for each one of us to understand that only by working together can we promote and preserve our culture. The small steps we take now will become a giant step in the future and it will bring the community much closer.

Without a collaborative partnership we could not have come this far. We might not agree with each other on certain things, but working together for the betterment of our community is important.

In Nepal, people are trying to make special efforts to conserve and preserve our cultural heritage. Our effort here and other efforts all around the globe, will make a substantial difference.

I would like thank everyone for their support. If we want this organization to be more effective and meaningful, we will need everyone's help and support. I would like to invite the Newa community from around the world to join me in promoting and preserving our cultural heritage. Any new ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
