Shri Ganesh: “Shri” (Lord) Ganesh is the son of Shri Shanker and Goddess Parvati. He has a heavy human body, however, an elephant head on his body. His vehicle is “Mushak” (rat), and he loves to eat “Modak” (sweet dish made from cheese). He has been bestowed with “Riddhi” (wisdom) and “Siddhi” (luxuries/achievements of life). He is also known as “Vighneshvaray”, which means he is capable to remove the obstacles coming in front of devotee’s life. Hinduism believes existence of 33 crores of Gods and Goddesses. Either of the religious rituals is incomplete, until Shri Ganesh is worshipped first because his father Shri Shanker blessed Shri Ganesh that Shri Ganesh must be worshipped first to have a complete religious rituals. Many parts of India celebrate Shri Ganesh festival during the first fifteen days of “Bhadrapada” (Indian calendar month around October). Every month, third day after the full moon, which is called as “Sankashta Chaturthi” is also considered auspicious day for worshipping Shri Ganesh. Devotees follow fasting for the whole day on “Sankashta Chaturthi” to be blessed from Shri Ganesh, and eat their dinner only after “Chandra-Darshan” (praying at the moon) when it rises around 8:30 P.M. The following “Ganesh Stotra” (text) is in “Sanskrit” but the script is in “Gujarati” language explains that by chanting this (text) for three times a day, and for unto six months, one’s obstacles coming in front of devotee’s life can be removed and all kind of luxuries and happiness can be achieved in the life.
