Having penned several hits for his own band Matchbox Twenty as well as the uber-smash 'Smooth' for Carlos Santana's comeback album Supernatural, Rob Thomas has garnered a fair bit of respect in the music industry as a dude who has a way with a hook. And that talent is evident on More Than You Think You Are, a collection of radio-ready pop-rock that won't throw fans of the band's debut Yourself Or Someone Like You. The mildly funky lead single 'Disease' even boasts a co-write from Mick Jagger. But elsewhere there are shades of roots-rock (they did record part of the record in Bearsville, after all), power-pop and little flashes of soul, all adding up to one of the band's most well-rounded efforts to date.
