BFA (Preparatory Course) – 1st and 2nd Year

 

Paper – 1 (Art History) – 100 marks

A.        Different stylistic significance of Visual Art in India, in out line,

1.         Indus Valley

2.         Early Indian symbolic art Maurya, Sunga, Kushan, Gandhar, Amarwati

3.         Classical characteristics Sarnath, Mathura Sculptures, Ajanta Paintings.

4.         Pala over ornamentation

5.         Animal Motifs – Pallava, Rashtrakoola, Orissa.

6.         Rajput and Mugal Paintings

7.         Indo-British style, Patna, Kalighat and important artists

B.         Introduction to Indian renaissance and modern age Abanindra Nath, Gaganendra

          Nath, Rabindra Nath, Nand Lal Basu, Jamini Roy, Kshitindra Nath Majumdar, Ram

           Kinkar, Amrita Shergil.

 C.        Artististic Characteristics of Ancient People – Egypt, Greece, Esopotamia, Creat.

 

Paper – 2 (Study) – 100 marks (30 – Assessment + 70 – Examination)

1.         Study of forms in nature – Flower and Foliage.

2.         Study of simple or group of objects. Still life and drapery in Line, Tone and Texture.

3.         Copy of designs, motifs and master’s drawing

4.         Original decorative forms

5.         Plane and solid geometry, simple principles of perspective with construction and problems

6.         Study from life and sculpture

7.         Study of bird and animal

8.         Out door study and landscape in pencil, crayon and water color.

 

Paper – 3 (Composition) - 100 marks (30 – Assessment + 70 – Examiination)

Simple composition in color, Hamonical and contrast arrangement of Primary and Secondary colors

 

Paper – 4 (Modelling) - 100 marks (30 – Assessment + 70 – Examination)

1.         Composition with human figure and animals in round and relief

2.         Study of basic shapes and human extremities, i.e. ear, eye, nose etc.

3.         Study of traditional sculptures in clay.

 

Paper – 5 (Applied Art) - 50 marks (15 – Assessment + 35 – Examinnation)

1.         Lettering – Deonagri and Roman

2.         Simple Layout show card, Book cover and direct mail.

 

Paper – 6 (Decorative Art & Craft) - 50 marks (15 – Assessment + 35 – Examination)

1.         Decorative designs

2.         Alpana

3.         Bastic on cloth or Pettery

Paper – 7 (Print Making) - 50 marks (15 – Assessment + 35 – Examinnation)

1.         Print Making in stencil

2.         Lino and wood cuts in Black and White

Paper – 6 (Optional – any one out of Graphic/Design & Craft –  Textile/Photography/Pottery) - 100 marks (30 – Assessment + 70 – Examiination)

A.        Graphic: Relief, Intaglio and Plano graphic process

B.         Design & Craft – Textile:

            1. Designing for Batic, Textile Printing and Weaving.

            2. Knowledge of weaving and printing block screen

            3. Batic on Cloth

C.         Photography:

            1. Out door creative photography

            2. Documentary and Micro photography

            3. Dark room practice

D.        Pottery:

            1. Thdowing on potters wheel and coil process
