AGNI AND ITS EFFLUENT POWERS

The word 'pyramid' takes its origin from the Greek word 'pyro' which means 'fire' or 'Agni' and 'amid' means the base.

These two words jointly beget the word pyramid which means the fire (Agni), the mainstay of all powers. Out of the five principal elements which are considered to be the basis for evolution of this universe, fire occupies the foremost place.

In vedic philosophy, agni, the fire God is manifested through a triangular form pyramid. Pure gold is obtained when inferior gold is flamed. Agni purifies and removes stains and impurities. It is because of this valid reason, our ancestors worshipped Agni. All vedic scriptures highlight Agni with glowing tributes. In his easy, titled 'What God shall we adore?' the inimitable Tamil poet laureate Subramania Bharathiar states that Agni is represented in the vedas by two forms namely, Devasenapathy and Devaguru. As per the vedas, Agni is the offspring of Rudhra. Agni and Rudra are one and the same. The Hindus pay offerings and oblations to Brahaspathi or Devaguru, the bestower of splendour. Hence, the poet glorifies Agni, as " O Agni ! Thou art my friend and we worship thee!"

People worship the God Agni daily. When we worship Agni, its fume purifies the atmosphere, kills germs and maintains ecological equilibrium. Among the different yagnas, advocated by the vedas, the easiest and simplest form to perform is Agnihotra. There are no limitations. Age, sex, caste and religion are no bar. Even a bath is not a must before the yagna but a simple ablution with supreme devotion will do.

Who performs it, is not a matter but what is noteworthy is its impact. It is performed for the welfare of all.
Agnihotra is being performed presently all over the world. Scholars in U.S.A and Germany hail this yagna as 'Homatherapy'.

Max Muller, the reputed apostle of the vedas, when asked to deliver inaugural address for recording in the newly discovered 'phonograph' his words were, 'Agnim idhe prohitham Yagyasaya Devarn Rig Vijam Hodharam Rathna thaathamam".

These are the opening verses of our rich literature Rig veda. How highly the German has rated these words!

The substance of the afore said slogam is :

O Agni! I invoke thee. Thou art the Lord of Yagnas, the preserver of divine Virtues, a guiding spirit and a bestower of splendid riches. I worship thee.

Dry cowdung slices, pure ghee and unblunt raw rice are the ingredients required to raise Agnihotra fumes. When the soul string slogam is raised amidst the fumes of Agnihotra, performes both at sunset and sunrise, it emits energy waves. The energy waves together with Agnihotra fumes, purify the atmosphere, remove pollution and protect us. A series of tests conducted before and after Agnihotra reval that there is an incredible impact. This is proved by the scientists with the help of the scientific 'Eloptic' apparatus.

The ultra-violet harmful rays, the gruesome mankiller, released by atoms become powerless when interacted by the Agnihotra fumes.' States a Russian scientist. Mainly scientists have revealed that plants grow better and faster with the Agnihotra ash.

The Union Carbide tragedy that occurred on 2nd March 1984 in Bhopal, shook the whole world. The leakage of poisonous gas carried away the lives of many a thousand. Even innocent domestic animals were not spread. Many thousands were crippled. Curiously enough, two families escaped unhurt and unharmed. How did this miracle happen? The Newspaper, 'The Hindu' threw light on this miracle and stated that, the two families, being trapped when the gas enveloped the house, with our losing heart, performed Agnihotra. Thus they escaped from the ghastly accident.

The great psychologist of U.S.A. Binny Rathen, confirms that Agnihotra flames along with the slogan cause changes not only in the atmosphere but also tranquilizes the restless human mind.

Agnihotra is gaining momentum in all the European countries including socialist countries. The countries of South America also evince great interest on this yagna. This yagna is not associated with any particular sect or religion. It is universally applicable. It is a yagna performed for the welfare of the mankind in general. Therefore the Western Countries show more interest on this therapy. Baltimore, just one hour drive from Washington, is said to be the sanctum sanctorum of this therapy.

The highly advanced Germans use agnihotra ash as a tonic.

Our ancestors performed Agnihotra with great faith, devotion and dedication. It was due to this, they hardly experienced drought. They led a prosperous and righteous life. They worshipped Agni, all the - pervading force remover of all evils. Look at the present world, too many warring religions and faiths. Strangely, every religion treats Agni with due respect and places it in high esteem. The Agnihotra vessel, when kept upside down turns into a pyramid. For this reason alone, one can understand the indivisibility of Agnihotra and pyramid.

Never die we in India build any pyramid nor were the Egyptians accustomed to Agnihotra. Still, one could not wink at the basic truth, that these two great forces emerged in two different countries during a long-drawn out period which is beyond our comprehension.
