Here's a list of ideas for
making one of the most obnoxious
holidays of the year more
enjoyable.

Remember:
Valentine's Day may have begun as "for lover's only", but
this is the 21st Century! Consider it instead a day for all kinds
of love;
from love of friends and family to love of your furry friends or food!
Make it a day where you indulge, explore and express your love for
anything or anyone important to you.
Anyone can enjoy specially-made Valentine's treats! To love others you
must first love yourself, and you can show it by indulging in some fine
chocolates!
Valentine's is also a very good time for interesting floral arrangements.
Add some colour and cheer to your snowy February with some
beautifully-arranged flowers!
Home-made
presents - of any kind - show more personal feeling and
thought than some pre-packaged gifts and cards from a store. No matter
who you'd like to express your feelings to, with some imagination and
effort anyone can make something really precious: a message from the
heart! Words of true feeling, whether it be love, friendship or kinship
make a bigger impact with most people than generic store fare.
Consider having a talk with your pet. Tell him or her how much you
love them, and why. Sure, they won't understand your words, but
they'll understand what you mean, and they'll be happy you spent
time with them.
Phone friends to plan a fun group-date. Go to a movie, the arcade, art
gallery or anywhere else interesting that you and your friends can all
enjoy together!
Dateless and it's really bothering you? Call up some like-minded
girlfriends and have an "Anti-Valentine's Day" party. Get some girl mags,
rent some chick flicks, pig out on ice cream and popcorn and
commiserate and gab all night!
Love
your mother! Buy some seeds and a pot and pre-plant your
contribution to Green Day in April! If you find the right plant, tree or
flower, it should be stable enough to transplant outside on the
celebration of our planet!
Give a random stranger in your school or work a Valentine (but make
sure they know it's just platonic and not a secret crush)! Or have some
generic Valentines with warm greetings to give to staff members or
employees in your life, or just to people you meet in the course of your
day who look like they could use some cheering up.
Try pepping up some traditional Valentines with new twists; try colouring
them in, adding some of your own original artwork, catchy quotes, or
even some Origami roses or hearts. They'll be fun to do and learn, and
add some personality to your gifts.
If you know someone who is particularly depressed about their place in
peoples' hearts on this day, you could make a collage of pictures of friends
and family cut into odd shapes and backed by coloured cardboard, and
paste it all onto a piece of bristolboard. If you use a piece of white
bristolboard, you can also get everyone with a picture on the collage to
sign it with a Valentine's or just an every-day note of friendship!

you have any other suggestions, feel free to write them into
