I woke to the setting sun as I usually did. My body felt sore but
refreshed by the activities of the day before. I struggled on what to do
either lie in bed and wait for my companion to wake or watch the sun set.
I had not seen a sunset in years but I would like to be with my love when
he wakes. I debate on this for a few moments and ended up deciding on
watching the sunset.
I slowly lifted myself from the bed and rotated around until I
faced the covered window. I put my feat down on the cold wooden floor and
I stood upright exposing myself to the draft in the room. I wore not an
article of clothing to protect myself from the cold, my body was covered
in goosenipples. Chills ran up ans down my spine. I reached over and
picked up one of the blankets on the bed to protect me from the cold and
also my modesty. I watched my love lie in the bed unmoving and silent. I
quietly covered him so that I would not rouse him. I walked slowly to the
window pulling the blanket tightly around me. As I walked the few steps
to the window the dust on the floor thickly coated my feat. A slight
scent of mold hung in the air.
The drapes had lost all color through age and collecting of dust.
I opened the curtains just enough to fit myself between the window and
the curtains. The bright reds and oranges flooded over me. The warmth
caressed me softly as the last beams shot out as if the last screams of
a dying creature. At the same moment two strong arms engulfed me
slowly. He held me tightly aginst him. His hair tickled the back of my
neck. I felt warm. I was at home.
"Evning dearest," greated my companion with a soft kiss to my
earlobe.
"Resting always seems to put you in a better mood," I laughed as I
took hold of his hands.
"If that is what you would like to call it. You are right though.
I feel much better," he turned around and smiled then kissed me with
incredible sweetness. When he pulled away he looked at me with a dark
haunted look. "I must feed tonight. I will not be able to go on if I do
not," he said in an almost apologetic fashion.
"Where do we go from here huny?" I asked in a mock sappy tone
hoping to lighten the mood.
"Do not call me that," he laughed and I discovered a large smile
on his face. He drew me in tight again and hesitated to let me go.
"Where should we go?" I tried to return to the former question.
"We should go to a large city. Somewhere there is a large populace where
we won't be noticed," I said feeling redundant and blunt because of Adam's
expression. "There is a largecity to the west called Haven. The name
seems appropriate doesn't it," I said the later softly under my breath and
punctuated it with a smile.
"You will have to head out alone. I have things to take care of.
Walk slowly so that I can catch you my dear. I should be with you in about
half an hour," his face had turned to stone and exuded an aura of death
that sent a chill down my spine.
"Please make sure it is some one that deserves it," I requested in
the same way a weak child requests something from a parent.
"I will try," he smiled then kissed me.
"You will return to me won't you? You won't find someone and leave
me?" I asked only half joking.
"Of course I will return to you," he smiled undertanding my
insecurities. He drew me in for one last embrace and then left.
