History:

Onyx lived with a rather large family until they were all killed by “hunters”, men who had been hired to help defend villagers from Onyx’s parents, who were ravaging the country-side while journeying. Onyx managed to escape and continued on her way alone. While alone, she created her own friend, Ceric, who “accompanied” her until she met a group of travelers bound for Thurgood Keep. Instantly befriending Shanna (who had yet to become a nosferatu), Onyx quickly managed to incorporate herself into the group. With her new friends, Onyx had no more need for Ceric, and so he vanished never to be thought of again.

After the escapade at Ingerson Keep, Stormcrowe took Onyx back to the Age of Dreams where she studied magic and learned how to be a dragon from an ancient Black wyrm named Nizidramanii’yt, or Nizi for short. She spent five years with the dragon before Stormcrowe returned and took her to Istar, a year before the Cataclysm was to strike. There they met up with the rest of the group, but not before a nasty incident involving Arkus controlling her through the use of a spell. Onyx also finally told Vale that she loved him, which sent Vale into a panic. Onyx has been “subtle” about her love for him since, though she is still rather outgoing and forceful towards it.

When the Astautha attacked the Starchaser, Onyx did what she could to help her friends. She managed to escape with a deep cut and a couple of broken ribs, though was saddened to hear that Shanna and Questor were missing. She came up with the idea to go back in time and save them from the Astuatha, and then go forward to save her family, though Maeve and Stormcrowe managed to take her mind off of that route for a time.

Upon arriving on the island of Mai-tat, Onyx took Vale for a walk. While resting on a log for a moment, a strange mist appeared and caused them to fall asleep and slumber for most of the day, waking to discover that Tyr was gone. Onyx, wanting to spend more time alone with Vale, deceived him and sent them on a wild goose chase for the missing ferret. While searching they ran across a huge rhinoceros beetle. With the help of Quickblade, they managed to destroy the creature, though Quickblade was quick to pass judgement that Onyx was evil. Onyx argued with him until Vale got upset, which caused Onyx to storm off, even though she was badly wounded from the attack. She ran into a woman who healed her wounds and took her to a temple to Takhisis, where she was able to eat and rest. Upon awaking from her nap, Onyx noticed a trail and followed it, arriving at a cave entrance. Inside, an old woman gave her the opportunity to go back in time to save her family from dying. Onyx agreed, but was deceived.

Onyx wound up in a dream, which was meant to be a test of Takhisis’s design. However, Paladine intervened and replaced Tak’s dragonhunters for hunters of his own.. her friends. They all succumbed to a strange mist which also put them to sleep, but placed them in the dream. Both past and future groups were involved, and even though some did not know others, in the dream they were old comrades.

Onyx’s mother managed however to capture Stormcrowe and Ajax and meant to kill them. Onyx saved them from plummeting to death, though they then attacked her younger siblings, killing them with a cold spell. Onyx was startled by this, allowing Ajax to get a hit on her with a magic missile. Onyx’s mother attacked and killed Stormcrowe in a fury over the deaths of her children. Onyx, torn between her loyalty to her friends and her relation with her mother, attacked her mother for killing Stormcrowe. Afterwards, a fight broke out, where several members of the party were killed or badly wounded. The dream ended for her friends when she finally killed Vale, after he had taken her mother’s life.

Onyx remained in the dream for a time afterwards, where she was confronted by “Eric”, who in actuality was Paladine. He told her that her friends would not know it had been her, and about the fact that this was a test, not the real thing. He gave her an amulet of Paladine, told her to trust her friends, and then left, giving her Tyr to return to Vale.

Onyx awoke near the beach and ran into Damon, who she had earlier feared. He had aided her in the dream however, and she decided she could be open-minded and give him a second chance. She had grown closer to him since. They were quickly on their way to Palanthas.

In Palanthas, Onyx again met “Eric”, who asked her to take a bag of something to the temple of Paladine in the city. Onyx, not given a chance to agree or disagree, set off to search for the temple. Damon was able to help her, as was Ajax, and they soon arrived. After a heated “battle” with Shanna’s ancestor over the family necklace Shanna had given Onyx, they had some food at a local inn and then traversed the maze at the Library. Returning to the Starchaser, they were brought back to the future when Vale broke the crystal.
Unfortunately, everyone wound up landing on top of Onyx. Because she had been connected to Questor through a necklace he had given her, instead of winding up at Ingerson Keep, they wound up in an alleyway in the future Palanthas, where they met Tempest and Mihiel. After taking a few minutes in the Purple Weasel Inn to get to know the newcomers, Onyx left to get herself a bite to eat. This involved a bit of burglary and a bit of first-degree murder, and leaving the others with no idea where she was.

DM's Notes:  Onyx is truly a dragon in need of guidance.  Unfortunately, this is difficult to receive from an entirely different species (humans) who know next to nothing about what it means to be a dragon.  Without necessary teaching, she could easily revert to the cruel ways of her race.  And yet, who among us is capable of doing that?
