"Don't worry, I don't bite..."

(BtVS = Buffy the Vampire Slayer)

this is one of the best tv shows out there. FX (Fox cable station) has been airing the first five seasons since fall of 2001. i remember watching some of the episodes when BtVS debuted in 1997, but never really followed it. they moved the show from the WB to UPN in the fall of 2001, and i started watching to show again (who could miss "Buffy - the Musical?").

what is so great about this show? well, let's see. it has:

• action
• romance
• witty sense of humor
• continuity
• pretty girls (and pretty boys. lol, never mind)
• vampires getting dusted
• bad guys getting their asses kicked
• bad-guys-gone-good
• good-guys-gone-bad
• continuity and consequences. things that happen affect events and people later in the series.

this show doesn't really follow the boring, predictable, "crisis comes and goes per episode" storytelling that is so prevalent in action shows. there is a main villain or plot element that runs throughout an entire season, which is not resolved until about the time of the season finale. they do have the "crisis per episode" type of thing, but it's woven in with that main villain or plot element (which just makes it so much more enjoyable). seasons 3 and 5 come to mind as excellent examples of what I'm talking about.
