MOUNTAIN BIKING IN MT.BATULAO May 16,2004 its 4:00am i hurridly pack my things in my Mohawk TNF daypack.toothbrush, face towel, extra shirt, water and trailfood..then i go to ben's, house which is just across the street, the light still out...i heard familiar noise coming inside his house its the kind of noise made by a cow when mating thu im sure there's no cow in there it's BEN...SNOARING. He! he! he! so i ring his phone just to wake him up.. 4:30AM we left sta rosa goin to evercrest golf and country club in nasugbo batangas, our jump-off point. we reach evercrest at around 6:00AM.. ok lets play golf HUH!! ha ha ha NO!! were not here to play golf! were here to climb Mt.Batulao using mountain bike. yeah you read it right mountain bike. Weve been Planning this for two months, after weeks and weeks of postponed schedule finally this is it!! and i am too eager to do what we came here to do.our goal is to reach camp 3 upto camp 7 using MTB. we start the at around 6:30AM trail goin to first peak is mostly downhill with scattered death cookies in some portion not too technical..then from first peak we scout the best possible way goin to the foot of MT.Batulao its continues downhill slalom on a 60 degree angle of rolling hills this is the technical part made more difficult by tall talahib grass covering the trail..check brake!!! and down we go Ben is ahead of me then vanished in the thick blanket of grass covering the trail, 20 minutes in the downhill im negotaiting a steep single track firetrail then suddenly i couldnt control the bike it goes faster and faster i full the brake and KAPOWWW!!! my first MTB crash thank god the grass cushioned my crash thu i hurt my ankle im A ok ...after a brief rest im back on trail. i catch up with ben at the foot of the mountain. from there we push upto campsite .. we choose the other trail goin down which force us to carry our bike passing thru forest and crossing streams ... until we reach a flat saddle goin to a small community from there its a 65 to 70 degree downhill goin down the river.-read more

SOLOEING STA.ROSA TRAIL Sept.18,2004 The usual starting of point of riding sta.rosa trail is paseo de sta.rosa in front of chowking mostly the riders gather there on tuesday and weekends. living near the place is an advantage for me i started 3:30 in the afternoon the trail is not so crowded and to avoid the scorching sun i took the wedge wood as the trailhead which is just 10 minutes from my place first part of trail is a downhill....
