Mt. TALIPANAN- Dubbed as the gateway to Malasimbo Located in the province of oriental mindoro this is one of the mountains you can climb when you visit the island of Puerto Galera,Talipanan is the mountain that can be seen from whitebeach resort the one with Antenna on Top. it can be scaled anytime of the year but the best time is during the summer months. mountaineers often climb talipanan as a sidetrip from beachineering in puerto galera.

i suddenly awaken by a ringing alarm from Bens cellphone i look at My watch it reads 5:00 a.m. we have to get out of bed and start the hike early to avoid the burning sun..but its too dark and cold outside and my bed is pulling my earthly body back to its comfort. i am so tired i look at ben he's still snoaring. what the heck i said should i wake him up or take another hour of sleep....blank....next thing i know its 6 am i get my Mohawk TNF day pack under my bed. i already prepared my things last night 500 ml. bottled water,can of gatorade..bandana,pocket knife and my cellphone just in case...we are not bringing trailfood because our plan is to climb as fast as possible and get down before 10 a.m. to have our breakfast by the beach...
its 7:04 a.m. we arrive at brgy. talipanan the trailhead to the mountain. ben set his watch to time our climb, first 15 minutes of hike is like a walk in the park as we gain height things gets serious trail becomes steeper and were sweating all over, we continue the climb following the line of electric post goin upto to the peak
its now 8:12 a.m were on top ot Mt.Talipanan ... BERG HEIL!!! and yes this is indeed the gateway to Mt.Malasimbo you can see trail connecting the two mountain..
view is from the top awesome the puerto galera beach, lush green forest of mt.malasimbo and neighbooring mountains, batangas coast plus the eye soothing expanse of blue sea...we spent only 10 minutes at the peak becoz of strong wind we cant barely stand straight its a wonderful experience.. descent is 40 minutes...too bad were not able to have breakfast by the beach ferry is leaving ...theres always next time contented of what we achieve that day i leave the island with sense of fulfillment in my heart..and thinking of goin back again.


HOW TO GO THERE
From Batangas Pier take a boat goin to whitebeach or talipanan if the boat going to talipanan si not available take the one going to Whitebeach. from whitebeach its a 20 minute walk to talipanan beach resort. or you can ask the boatman to bring you to talipanan there is additional charge thu. from talipanan beach resort you can ask direction from the friendly locals.


SUGGESTED ITINERARY FOR a DAY HIKE:
DAY 1:
7:00AM - ASSEMBLE AT Batangas Pier (buy Ticket to Talipanan Puerto Galera)
7:20AM - ETD for Puerto Galera
8:40AM - ETA Talipanan Beach. Jump-off(Breakfast rest)
9:30AM - Packs on Back Start trek (Trailhead is TALIPANAN mangyan School) you can fill your water bottle here
10:30AM - ETA GLOBE TOWER. Rest Picure Taking, Lunch
12:00PM - ETD GLOBE Tower. Start Decent
12:30PM - ETA Talipanan Beach fix tent near the small stream
1:30PM - Beach Exploration, snorkling swimming 9:00PM - Light OUT!!!
DAY 2:
6:00AM - Wake-up call prepare breakfast
6:30AM - Breakfast
7:30AM - arrange ticket to Batangas
8:30AM - ETD Talipanan Beach
9:50AM - ETA Batangas Pier
12:30pm - ETA Alabang, hiwa-hiwalay na uli
