PICO DE LORO is located Southwest of manila
with the height of 664 meters above sea level its not that high. this is
the highest point in a series of rolling hills in that part of cavite
province.Climbing Pico De Loro Offers a Different kind of adventure.The
view from the summit is awesome a 360 degree view of Corrigidor island
from the north nasugbo batangas (mts. batulao and talamitan can be seen
here) from the south and China sea on the west. many climbers say the
entire mountain resembles like the north american rocky mountain when
viewed from basecamp2. Pico De Loro is embraced by good vegetation tamed
with magnificent flora which provide a healthy habitat for different
species of birds, insects and other wildlife...thanks to the decleration
of DENR that the place is a portected area. philippine hawks hovering the
skies is a common site,youll see a tariktik hornbill glidding in the tree
tops, a lot of wild birds species can still be seen here,bald myna,
whiskered picca,the local kulasisi,and the bleeding heart pigeon are
feast to the eye of bird enthusiasts, there are three campsite in the
area basecamp1 the second registration (2 hours from the peak),basecamp 2
the biggest and can accumodate 50 to 100 tents (45 minutes from the peak),
and ABC along the trail just before the assualt.(20 minutes from the
peak.)
POINTS OF INTEREST - CAVITE area is home to some historical places and of coz the beaches, take a dip and sooth your tired muscles in famous puerto azul beach resort or visit the town of KAWIT, home of the first President of philippine republic Gen.Emilio Aguinaldo. if your looking for adrenaline pumping activity you can rapell the 40 ft. waterfall near the basecamp2.

DRAWBACKS / REMINDERS
there is a hut @ basecamp 1 You have to pay 5 pesos per head as a second
registration registration fee i dont know if thats the common practice
there ...the man of the house is kind and very accumodating to
mountaineers,,,....there are areas of pico de loro that are privately own
and grazing catle are roaming along the trail ... so close the gate
everytime you pass by one.
