Mt.Makulot or Maculod to others is
a popular destination for hikers both novies and professional located in
cuenca batangas it towers at 835 meters above sea level.
it offers a majestic 270 degress of view. Mt.Maculot is the mountain that
can be seen across taal lake from tagaytay city resembling an Igloo.the
mountain can be climb all year round but we advice to climb
it during summer months.coz strong gust of winds blows the shoulder
campsite constantly making your tent kiss the ground plus the rain makes
the trail muddy and slippery making ur hike a bit frustrating, campsite
is available in the grassy shoulder overlooking the famous taal volcano
in the southeast it can accumodate more than 50 tents. in the south end
of the campsite is a place called "ROCKIES" since its a rocky cogonal
Peak seperated by a deep gorge it can be climb via a sadle three to four
feet wide. the place is an ideal vantage point the view there is awesome
the jagged sawtooth Mt.Batulao and the entire Batangas Province in
the south,Taal volcano and tagaytay city in the south east, and the
silohoutte of mt makiling in the far east, when the sky and clear the
Majestic Mt.Halcon in the south east direction across the batangas bay
can be seen. you can rappel the side of the ROCKIES it has a sheer 500
meter cliff directly goin down the lake. the summit trailhead is visible
from the north end of the campsite summit is one hour away, but few
scales it since it has no viewpoints.
DRAWBACKS - A sari-sari store is
located in the middle of the campsite(despite mountaineers protest's)
food and other probitions are available there in case you run out of
supply. there is a small watersource 5 minutes down the east ridge.
