| November 1956 - February 1959 |
| Yet another of the *too many* tragic stories of the lives, or death, of children in Government care, er foster-care. Donna is my sister. Eleven months my senior, Donna died at two-and-a-half years of age. It was the fourth foster home we had been in in less than a year. At least we were always placed together, and until the end. For this I will *always* be grateful. Donna's death is documented to have been the result of a severe blow to her stomach which'd caused her appendix to rupture; Peritonitis. The coroners report also indicated that she had Bronchial Pneumonia. Reportedly, we and some other children had been playing outside on the swingset that February afternoon, and several hours later Donna began complaining about stomach pain. Years later, I would locate that foster parent, *and* the foster-daughter she later adopted whom, clearly, she did not want me talking to. And now I know why. It never ceases to amaze me just how *low* the Government will stoop in order to cover its own behind, {and *still*}, or how they continually, and predictably!, point the finger at the innocent should they ~need~ to. Shame, shame, shame. And the truth will remain as buried as Donna, May she ever rest in Peace. |
