23 September 2002. Hike #9

Distance: 8 miles
Max Elevation Change: 1000 feet on the stair master + road work elevation (~500)
Time of Day: 1730
Temperature: 70F
Humidity: 60%
Water Consumed: 10 ozs
Weight: 70 lbs
Time: 2 hours 15 minutes

After work ruck.  Watching the sun set as I went was lovely...Did the "Torii Loop", stopped at the gym to do the stairs (100 flights at 15 minutes. nice!), stumbled out of the gym and decided to do a second loop after all (the stairs hurt).  I'm glad I did...it didn't take more then fifty meters to get a second wind (which seemed AWFULLY strange, but why on earth was i to argue?)

Where as I normally take a nice conservative 3 mph pace, tonight I hard charged it at 4 mph.  I had planned to do a road march sunday but blew it off.  I'd been out and about friday and saturday and thought I should take a nice easy relaxing stay at home and veg day.  I did, however, fill my camel back resevoir and put it in the freezer...

Of course i prompty forgot about it and consequently had a 90 oz ice cube.  Hardly any of it thawed...Due to the mild climate and no sun it didn't affect me any really.  What it DID do, however, was keep the weight completely constant since I couldn't drink off the 5.5 lbs of water weight :)

So i made up for blowing of saturday tonight.  Couldn't do it as I woulda liked tomorrow morning at PT cuz my section is running instead of rucking.  (but it's only five paltry miles so i fear no consequences of hurting myself)

I was feelling nice on the second loop and even wished on the first star...

Just past the 6 mile mark the endorphin/adrenalin cocktail kicked in and I went from feeling nice to feeling GOOOOOOD.  heh.  I considered hitting the stairs again, briefly, but dismissed it as I have other things to do tonight and didn't want to be a pretzel.
