| 7 September 2002. Hike #8
Distance: ~12 miles
I did the same route, mostly, as last time. I tacked some extra mileage on because I felt so much better this time...to which I attribute mostly to the far superior weather (and may I even imagine I was just so out of shape last time, after only about a month away from long hikes? damn!). I made my happy way up to the Zakimi Castle Ruins again and the one fucked up trail of constant up/down stairs through the jungle, followed by the equally fucked up straight up the hill path out. Then back to that little park, just for the distance this time, i didn't stop but for more than a picture or two, and finally back out to highway 58 and the same place I turned around last time. Thank GOD but I could actually *breathe* today! I could have gone out for longer too but I had to get back for dinner plans with a friend. I didn't have to stop anywhere to give my lungs a break. I was hauling some ass back too. No liner socks today, and no blisters either. Coincidence? I think
not. The bottoms of my feet were hurting on the way back in though...probably
just because I haven't done any running or rucking of any sort since a
couple weeks ago.
