The new NEC Tower humming
So it's been a week since I last wrote...some good reasons for that actually. First of all...Dan and I had a *very* wild and crazy (nto to mention alcoholic) wknd when I got back--4 days for columbus day on the 11th! Wahoo! Coming back to work sucked--had to shave my goatee and get my hair cut...
I was having such a blast, staying up late, getting drunk, hanging around with Perez and Hughes and people from the Coffee Scene. Sunday was the open mic and I read some things to a very receptive audience...it was a good night. Hughes is apparently single again and methinks she seems interested. I don't really know if I want a relationship right now, but it's possible--it'd be nice to at least get to know her a bit then I can decide. The way I see it--all the relationships that semi-seemed to have worked came from not beign so sure at the beginning or meeting...
Anyways, my computer went out on me Monday--the modem died again...exact same problem as the first time. So i brought it back to Circuit City that day and got hassled about having to get another notebook computer in the "Lemon Law" exchange...i wanted store credit flat out so I could get a desktop and stereo equipment...I went back last night and different peopel were wrokign--they gave me store credit straight up. So now I have a new computer, a desktop this time--one I can upgrade into my digital sound editor and CD mastering workhorse. I also got a new tape deck/12 CD changer package for my car. I had a home stereo receiver and speakers picked out too but they screwed up the order and I didn't get them...but I got a gift card for $464.64. I can go in and just buy a CD single or something and get the rest of the money back in cash...so then I can get a stereo elsewhere, and cheaper probably too--maybe a pawn shop or the Post Exchange. I also have a zip drive (100mb) now--cuz I hadda backup files from the notebook b4 i brought it back...and a printer (although I have no printer cabel for it...like duh! why do companies sell printers without the neccessary cables? I checked the packing list too and it wasn't listed. so damn retarded)
Wow this monitor is huge compared to the notebook's...about 4 more inches
(it's a 17 inch--16viewable). I have so much software to load on
this, including LINUX!!! Wahoo! finally get to stick that on this
nice 13GB hard drive, 450mhz AMD II K6 processing, 64mb ramming piece of
work. Put that on, order my plextor burner and my SEK'D prodif sound
card...good to go!!! I haven't had a chance to remove any of the
preinstalled software yet (although I did remove AOL...very important thing
to do that. DOWN WITH AOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hehe)
Just before my computer crashed, I got these lovely little notes from
Earthlink saying I had exceeded my 6MB alloted fro my web site...so I spent
a fair amount of tiem over the weekend (mostly when Dan was out being active,
playing basketball or volleyball or whatever, or when he was sleeping)
moving the archives over to XOOM. That was a pain and I still hafta
go in and "un-hardwire" most of the links--they all work but they're not
set up to be local...meaning if I try to burn the archives to disc or to
ZIP, the links won't reference the files on the disc, but rather try to
connect to the files online...very bad. So that's all been a pain...luckily
it has seemed that some of the files do not have the links hardwired...the
problem I found out is that netscape composer was set up to AUTOMATICALLY
hardwire the links...sux. but i deal with it.
But it's so lovely to be back up and running. Not having a computer for these past few days sucked.
An old aquantence of mine popped up on the AHS graduate site online
so I emailed him--got a reply back tonight when I checked my email.
Got another email out of the blue from yet another friend. Weird
how the timing was so similar on that. I haven't heard from *anyone*
from school pretty much since I left there--although I did run into Rebecca
Beal one time at the library I think it was...even that was two or three
years ago.
