Title: The Glow Warnings: Yaoi, Sap, and Spoilers... this focuses on both manga and the anime versions of the episode with the Glow. I tried to incorporate both. Disclaimers: CLAMP is really very brilliant, all four of them. To those amazing women I owe all the credit of the characters and situations. This story is mine. Yueh looked like a nervous horse-and he knew it. He shifted from foot to foot, never pausing, and finally decided on the levitation option. Then, he sat down. The grass beneath him was cold and wet with morning dew. The sun was still on its rise, and the moon still showed her pale face amidst the blue tones of the morning. Yueh was like the moon; still clinging to the night by a thread as he was slowly smothered back into the bright daylight-just to wander the night that was to come. But for the next few minutes, he was neither the only one who belonged, nor the one who did not belong. Keroberus, the lion-like guardian of the sun sat at his side. They shared the moment in the same disposition, saying nothing. "He will return," the creature said finally. Yueh froze. His nervousness must have alluded to his thoughts. He was grateful to be still again, though. "He promised he would return as soon as he finished 'a very special card'. I trust that our master will uphold this promise. He has never lied to us before." Yueh's back was cramped with his wings still concealed, so he released the breath-taking feathery angel wings for a stretch. font> Keroberus looked mildly amused. "I wonder what that card will be." The lion-like creature continued his perpetual torture by adding, "I am sure it is something that you will love nearly as well as Clow... seeing as you love nothing as well as our master." Yueh stiffened. Keroberus also cared for their master, but he knew that the attractions were different. Yueh was in love with the man that Keroberus loved to protect. This entailed that Yueh in turn loved all of Clow's creations. Yueh opened his mouth in self-defense when he was interrupted by none other than Clow Reed himself. "Yueh, Keroberus, good morning." The man had a pleasant smile as he approached his home. He held in his hand the new card. Keroberus eagerly darted over to see what it was. "Woah, you'll have to wait. This one is for Yueh." Clow gave his beast an apologetic smile. He called, "Please, come with me, Yueh, I wish to show you this new card." "As you wish, master." Yueh, glad to serve, was by Clow's side in a flash, and followed him just as eagerly, leaving Keroberus behind. The lion's pout went unnoticed to the quasi angel. As they entered the solarium, Clow tossed a card out and touched it with the staff saying, "Dark, give us night." The room was filled with the card's magic. Clow knew Yueh could see well in the dark, so he didn't even waver from what he was doing. "This card will be forever under your rule, Yueh. This is the card that I made just for you. Even Keroberus has no authority over it. Only you and the one who holds the key will be able to awaken it. This is The Glow. Please, be friendly with her, as you are her new master." "Master..." Yueh was baffled. He took the card that was extended to him. On the face was a picture of a cute young impish girl. She looked very serene and content-as if she were in love herself. "..Glow..." Whispered Yueh. The card began to glow, making him yelp and nearly drop it. Then, a green glowing ball emerged from the card and floated in front of Yueh's face. The angel tilted his head to the side. "How beautiful..." He put a slender finger out to try to touch glow, but it suddenly burst into a thousand smaller globs of green light. It was like green glowing snow falling in the night. Yueh's eyes light up. "It is just like the snow." "Yes," Clow agreed. He sat down. "I knew that you would love this card." Clow patted the ground next to him. "Please, sit, Yueh." The angel complied, and in silence they sat for a little over an hour, saying nothing, just enjoying the company of one another. Finally, Clow asked, "Are you happy, Yueh?" "I am happy when I am with you mater." "No, I mean are you happy in your life?" "My life?" Yueh cocked his head to the side. "I... I guess so... but it is not important. What is important is that you are happy, master. I am happy when I am with you, when I can serve you." Yueh actually smiled a little. He then frowned, forcing away his thoughts. He did not want to disturb his master by admitting his humble love. "Have you ever fallen in love, Yueh?" "I love only you." "Just answer the question." Clow was trying to break through Yueh's programming, and it worked. The angel bit his lip a little, and felt his face turn red. He made a cave of his wings, and folded them in front of his face. Clow laughed a little. "Don't hide, Yueh. There is nothing to be embarrassed about. We all fall in love!" "Even you, master?" Yueh was surprised to even think that. He stuck his head out of his wings, and saw Clow smiling and nodding to his question. "Is there someone you love, master?" Yueh felt about three years old asking such simple questions. He shook his head very slightly. "I have one person I love more than anything or anyone else." Clow smiled. "Before you ask, you know him. He is not one of the cards or Keroberus." Clow drew close to his angelic creation. "I know of no one else, master. Only you, the cards, Keroberus, and..." And...?" M...Me." Yueh was blushing again, but Clow moved to fast to worry about blushing. The man was somehow in Yueh's arms, gently resting his head against Yueh's shoulder. Yueh's heart raced, and he hugged Clow. His wings folded into the hug as well, wrapping the two together. At about that time, Glow and Dark were starting to get bored. They both returned to the guise they were meant to be in. The sky..." Yueh whispered in awe. It was golden red with the light of the early morning light. Through the windows of the solarium, light reflected off of Yueh's feathers in the most beautiful manner. But... the moon... Yueh was suddenly very tired. "I must sleep, master." Clow didn't move. "I will stay with you, then. Sleep well, Yueh. For once, I want to watch over you." Yueh said nothing, he just feigned sleep. As such, the two watched over one another all day. *** "I'll stay here and watch the ring toss skills!" Tomoyo opted enthusiastically. Yukito looked at the young girl and was forced to smile. She was very dedicated to the one she loved most. She lifted her video camera to her face again and continued, "I'll even get it on tape! Even though, I'd much prefer to film you, Sakura." The girl was blushing again. Sakura sighed. She looked up at her brother Touya and her romantic rival, Li, and began, "I can just..." "Go." Tomoyo ordered. "It is a festival after all." The girl winked at her best friend and went back to watching the two boys playing ring toss in attempt to win a stuffed rabbit with angelic wings for Yukito. At least, that is how it seemed. Sakura had also expressed her interest in the rabbit. It could just be Touya's sister-complex acting up again. Yukito chuckled. It was probably for the best if Sakura did leave and get the thing she wanted from the shrine. Yukito had to assume it was a charm... maybe for love? He laughed a little more, and held his hand out to Sakura. "Shall we?" He smiled at her in his usual adorable manner. Sakura turned bright red as she took his hand. She replied, "Y-yes!" Together, the two walked around the festival in search of the shrine entrance. Somehow, they ended up in back of the shrine where there was an old tree standing proudly in front of them. The night was thick and silent, and clouds hid the night sky, so the stars did not add their heavenly glow to the mood. "This is so familiar..." Muttered Sakura. Yukito said nothing. Suddenly, the pair spotted a green pin-prick of light swirling toward them. "What...?" Yukito began to wonder. Suddenly thousands of these little lights sprang out of the tree, and began to swirl around Yukito and Sakura. This is so familiar... "Fire flies?" Wondered Sakura aloud. Not this late in the year... couldn't be. And there is no river near here..." Yukito pointed out. He held out his hand and a light settled at a hover a couple millimeters above his palm. "Still... it is beautiful..." It was also very romantic, but Yukito didn't have the person he wanted to share it with. For some reason he really felt like he needed to be with the one he loved right then. It was like de ja vous. "Yuki..." Sakura's voice was nervous. "I have something I need to tell you..." "Hm?" Yukito wasn't facing her, just looking at the glowing green lights still. "I..." Sakura's voice trailed off. Yukito then turned to look at her. He knew the words that were about to come out of her mouth long before she finished the sentence. "Yes?" "I..." "GOT IT!" Two voices shouted in unison. They were those of Touya and Li, finally done with the ring toss tournament. The lights disappeared as if the shouting had frightened them. "The battle was so fierce, the man running the booth gave us two, hoping it was a resolution." Tomoyo motioned with her camera. "And I have it all on film, for you, Sakura." "Sakura released Yukito's hand, and he knew that she was upset. She had been interrupted, after all. Suddenly, a bunny was thrust in Yukito's face. Yukito looked down to see Li, blushing, and averting his gaze, holding the rabbit out to him. "Is this for me?" The smaller boy nodded. "Thank you!" The boy only blushed more. "Thank you. I love it!" Sakura was saying at that time. Yukito looked over to see Touya with his arms folded, not looking at Sakura, who held a bunny lovingly to her chest. "Sister-complex," mouthed Yukito. Touya looked away from him. The boy didn't love much, but would protect with a vengence that which he loved. The only person who had ever been taken off that list was Kaho Mistuki, the woman he'd loved every day he knew her until she broke up with him and moved to England. Oddly enough, she was back in Tokyo, and was Sakura's teacher. Kaho had told Touya that he would love another when she returned... and that seemed to be true. The spoken of devil called, "Touya, Sakura, Tomyo, Li!" The four looked at her and waved. She came over and said, "Do I know you?" "You're Kaho Mistuki, right?" Yukito smiled. "You must be Yukito." "Yukito Tsukishiro." Yukito shook hands with the woman without even thinking twice. He then realized. "This is your shrine, right?" He continued, "There is something I am looking for..." "That would be over there..." Kaho sent Yukito off in the direction of the shrine. Yukito said his thanks and went in the direction she had indicated. But, before he was out of ear shot, he heard Kaho say, "You haven't changed at all, Touya." He found the charms, bought one for Sakura, and stood there for a moment alone. Suddenly, the green lights returned. Yukito's eyes turned to lavender and he whispered, "Glow..." "The lights disappeared, and Yukito's eyes went back to normal. He shook his head. Odd things kept happening to him. With his smile back on his face, he went to find Sakura. *** Yueh smiled in his slumber, where the Glow warmed a part of his heart that had been left untouched in three hundred years... since the death of Clow Reed. |
