I've been seeing many shows lately. The Sound of Music at Stratford was better than I had expected. I liked the energy Cynthia Dale put into her performance. I also saw Regan in the same show. She was Ursula the maid and basically had one line, "Frau Schraeder?". Though she didn't have much of a role it was good to look for Regan in the ensemble. The York Street Kitchen was the same as usual. I love their sandwiches! Everybody that goes to Stratford must go to the York Street Kitchen! I'm going there again to see Twelfth Night which I heard is really funny. The change of setting to 1920s Greece worked really well. I'll be sure to discuss it when I see it.
I also saw The Full Monty which is very hilarious! I don't remember the last time I laughed so hard! Chris Diamantopoulos is amazing as Ethan the welll-endowed one and I love Danny Gurwin as Malcolm. The thing that annoyed me the most is that they cut short the extension. It was originally supposed to stay until September 1, now they cut it to August 5. Supposedly too ambitious! If they didn't have such expensive tickets, they would sell out! That's my opinion. ^-^ Speaking of shows, I'm eventually seeing The Drowsy Chaperone which many people say is bad but we'll see. The coincidence was that I spotted Jonathan Crombie who's in the show (you'd probably know him as Gilbert in Anne of Green Gables) going into the stage door for the matinee when I was waiting to get into the Elgin Theatre. The Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre are in the same building. The Elgin on the bottom and the Winter Garden on top. It's a very interesting concept.
I think I should keep this entry short. Not much happening this summer. Just a lot of music and music history. Hours of homework and practice which essentially is very good for me, I just don't know it yet. Now I'm off to do my homework, I get to write some essays comparing the Middle Ages vs. the Renaissance and the Renaissance vs. the Baroque. Such fun! Au revoir!
