So here I am again. I'm actually updating weekly which makes me happy. I'm rather stressed now because of my awful job and secondly, exams! :( There are some things I'm not good at but hopefully I will try hard in some. Something I used to excel at was French, let's pray that mon examen pour francais sera bien et j'obtenirai une bonne note. :) FYI, my English ISP presentation was better. Romanticism was always my sort of thing. I was going to see if I could read some Moliere next year and discuss some aspect of comedy or such but then my teacher suggested I stick with the theme of Romanticism. She says it will be a good seminar topic. So maybe I will for next year unless I can find some more stuff on Moliere.
My thing of discussion in this entry will be Adele Hugo, the youngest daughter of Victor Hugo. I borrowed her biography from the library and got very into it.
That's her right there. She's stunning and many people thought so back then as well. The interesting thing was her obsession with Albert Andrew Pinson. It seems so Marius and Eponine in a way. Another interesting fact was that she was mentally ill; she had schizophrenia. In the book, you could say that Eponine was a little out of it, though not to the extremes of mental illness but still, I can't help comparing it. I keep thinking that Adele's obsession with Pinson was somehow consciously or unconsciously incorporated into the whole Eponine and Marius thing. There's this quote I find interesting from the book: An exile from home, friends and country - a poor unhappy waif in a lonely and comfortless world! With her beauty, her talents, and her family connections, she might have been an ornament of European society. But that all-powerful impulse of love, which has often enough turned and overturned the lives of men and the events of history, irresistibly bore her on to a life of unspeakable misery (Adele Hugo: La Miserable, by Leslie Smith Dow.) Just a view. Anyway, it's a good book and it offers a great view into the life of the Hugo family. Definitely worth reading!
I can't wait to see Larry's Party. Nine days and I'll be seeing it! WOOHOO! I've heard that it was getting mixed reviews but I'd definitely like to judge for myself. I may be bias though, I warn. Sometimes you can't help that. And so, that's all for this week unless interesting stuff happens this weekend. I'd rant about work but I'm trying to let go of things as advised. I just have to mention that I dislike that woman who works at Home Depot who thinks that certain fast food places can't run out of salads and seems to think people who work at this restaurant owe her something. It's a business that offers a service/sells goods like Home Depot. We are on the same level. She holds no seniority over me or anyone else who works there. Why does it have to be so hard for people! All I have to say is: Man in born free; and everywhere he is in chains. Life is hard but it doesn't mean you have to be so uptight. (Gosh, I'm such a hypocrite :)
