Slowly and surely I got back into the school grind. As soon as these presentations are over, I will be able to breathe. My Jean-Jacques Rousseau presentation in French went well. I was content. Wednesday's business one flopped. English is TBA. Eee!
So not much to discuss, though I was quite interested in the A&E version of The Great Gatsby from Sunday. It was interesting but then again I'm a little bias and I was looking forward to it immensely. I was so excited as soon as I saw the commercials. I wasn't too fond of that version from the seventies with Sam Waterston, Robert Redford, and Mia Farrow. I don't know why, I just didn't like it. However this one appealed to me instantly.
Methinks it's that A&E usually does really nice interpretations or it could be Toby Stephens who really appealed to me in the ad. Make your choice! I quite enjoyed Mira Sorvino as Daisy Buchanan. I love the twenties! Let's hear it for the Roaring Twenties! Bell hats! Flappers!
Now as I descend unto earth again, something else I'm looking forward to is Larry's Party. Yay Brent Carver! Yay Susan Gilmour! As I've mentioned numerous times, Brent was an amazing Tevye! Susan was my first Fantine. I love her crystalline voice. His voice emotes this calm serenity. What a match! Now if I could bring myself to actually go beyond the first chapter of the book. I had borrowed it from the library but since I took so long in reading the Horatio Hornblower books that I neglected reading Larry's Party. I will read it eventually. Carol Shields interests me a lot. With her in mind I must also read The Republic of Love and Dressing Up for the Carnival. Ooh much to do and exams coming up! Busy! Hopefully not too busy to update though. I've decided to include pictures with my journal entries and I have so much fun choosing which picture(s) to put in. It's one of my joys in life. What can I say, people live for the little things! Good night!
