Beliefs
Just like other religions, Wicca have general beliefs. The catch is, not every Wiccan adhears to everything. But, does every Catholic (for example) follow every guideline? Some are Easter-Christmas Catholics.
To at least acknowledge that we believe this way is a step in the right direction.
- Lord and Lady
- The Lord and Lady are worshiped, or respected, in the form that manifests itself to you.
- Reincarnation
- The idea that our souls go through a learning process that follows a cycle of birth-death-rebirth. Some sources suggest that when we have learned all the lessons the Lady wants us to learn, then we reach perfection and the Divine. Unlike some Eastern religions, Wiccan reincarnation is not viewed as punishment.
- Blood Shed
- Absoultely not! Not even your own ( although in some published spells they ask for menstral blood). Common sacrifce is Milk and Honey.
- Rule of Three ( or Threefold Law)
- What you put out will come back to you threefold. Even the negative things. This includes magick, everyday living, ect.
- Conservation
- Earth is our home and our connection with the Goddess. To abuse it is wrong. We honor our Lord and Lady by cleaning up the environment. Even picking up the trash on your street helps.
- Non evangelical
- We do not go around door to door saying "have you heard the word of our Lady today?". But in other religions it is their duty to spread their religion, and that is ok. Wicca does not have to.
- Acceptance
- Wiccans understand that other religions have just as much a right to be here as we do. Of course, we all don't agree, but hate mongering is not allowed. Remember the Threefold Law! This also applies to members of groups, as Wicca itself is not prejudiced.
- Powers
- We can bend, tap, and harness the powers around us. The Powers of the Universe are still in control, but we can work with them to accomplish what we need. This is called magick.
- Agendas
- While most of us are trying to dispell the myths looming over Paganism, Wicca is not a politcal organization. But just as there is the Christian Coalition fighting for Christian ideals in this country, Wiccans, too, have organizations upholding our ideals.
- Services Rendered
- It is ok to ask for money for readings, classes, supplies, and crafted tools. Private classes should not be payed for.
- Satan
- Wiccans do not recognize Satan as a demon. Most of us feel he is an archtype for Christians and Muslims, although the Old Testement refers to him as well. Wicca deals with most things as negitive or positive. Good and Bad are inaccurate terms. We do not worship Satan, or call upon his "powers" if there are any.
- Rede
- An it harm none, Do what you will!
- Fun
- Enjoy life!
