Thanks for Swift Justice in Animal Abuse Case

On July 6, Wisconsin Judge Richard Werner sentenced Barry Herbeck to what is thought to be the longest sentence ever for an animal abuser in the U.S.--12 years. Police found the bodies of five cats and a puppy in Herbeck's home. The dog had been suffocated, his mouth and nose sealed with duct tape. In sentencing, Judge Werner rejected a plea agreement and decided on the maximum, telling Barry Herbeck his actions "offended the sensibilities of the community."
Please thank Judge Werner for sending such a strong message to those who commit heinous crimes against animals.
