Scene 4.1
Early in the morning, before the school. Xander cheerfully enters the library. His eyes meet Giles who's softly snoring and Willow who has fallen asleep head resting on the keyboard. Lips curled with a smile he takes a computer printout from her hand and reads.
Xander:
...defeat of all evil over... (his eyes grow big) ...destruction of all demonic powers... (to himself) what actually do we need the slayer for.
(Giles is about to wake up)
Giles:
It isn't all that simple.
Xander:
Pardon me?
Willow (sleepily):
Hm?
Giles (wiping his eyes with one hand while looking for his glasses):
It actually is extremely difficult, to activate the Messenger.
Willow:
The last time it's been tried must have been about 200 years ago.
Giles:
In fact it isn't even known, whether or not they succeeded in activating...
Xander:
What about the Watcher's diaries?
Giles (rather irritated):
Well yes, eh, there has been a fire in the main building of the eh council and, eh well...
Xander:
... and of course none of your fellow tweeds'd ever thought of copying any of the stuff...
Giles (angry):
You are talking about inestimable notes!!!
Willow (peacefully):
To be able to destroy all evil, a part of him must adopt demonic features.
Giles (swallowing the bait):
That's right. (frowning) That's the most dangerous state when it comes to activating... (his frowning even deepens, wondering how to present such complex connection as plain and precise possible) The Messenger's nature is
good. (he pulled a wry face by the thought of having to found his explanations on terms such as good and bad) His demon part is harmless and actually not worth mentioning, eh well, at least in his dimension...
Xander:
Are you telling us, by activating the Messenger it's also his eh his...
Willow:
...demon part? - Yes!
Xander:
Yes??? That's all - just yes??? (he thinks about it for a moment) Well, don't ya too think Buffy's doing a hell of a good job, asking me, there's no need for this Messenger geek being activated at all!!!
Giles:
The threat is only for short time, which is the moment he transfers from his spiritual existence into the mortal body he's picked before.
Xander (breathing a sigh of relief):
Ah!!! (but only for a second) Whose body???
Willow:
That is uncertain.
Xander:
I think somebody should call on Buffy...
Giles:
Buffy is not at school??? I, eh... well, I should see you later...
(he rushes out of the library)
(Xander and Willow look at one another)
Xander:
Oh, oh, naughty naughty Watcher!
(they continue to flip through the many documents and books sitting on the table)
scene 4.2
Against noon.
Buffy and Angel insinde Angel's apartment.
Angel:
Your mother will be raging.
Buffy:
My mother? - She'll be nothing compared to Giles!!!
Angel:
Oh yes, Giles...
Buffy:
I am glad, I stayed.
Angel:
Hm. I wish you could...
Buffy:
Pst, let's enjoy our time together.
(Angel wraps around her more firmly. Eyes closed they lie all snuggled up, enjoying the other ones present)
Buffy (seriously):
Thank you.
Angel:
What for?
Buffy:
For telling me.
Angel:
Shouldn't I do so?
Buffy:
What for?
Angel:
Loving me - despite...
Buffy (closes his mouth with a kiss):
I love you.
Angel:
Thank you.
(he breaths a kiss onto her hair)
Scene 4.3
Late afternoon.
Spike and the girl lie rolled up in opposite corners of the cell. The blond vampire, who by now hasn't fed for more than four days, is shaken by cramps.
Spike:
Give me one reason, not to kill you!!! (he throws her a hate-filled look, before he's shaken by a further colic)
Spike:
You stay away from me!!! (he hisses at he, although she doesn't move)
(he crouches even more, his face wrenched from agony)
