My Enemy's Enemy

(Some dance club, where Spike - after his little chit-chat with Xander and Giles - bumps into Buffy/Faith)

'Ah, there you are,' a sexy smile on his face the peroxide blond sneaked a cold arm around the solemn figure in the middle of the dancing crowd. 'Brown hair, this heigh, criminal attitude...'

He seducively purred into the brunette girl's ear, all the while pulling her closer.

Holding his none-existant breath the vampire waited for the girl to react.

'Spike!' The attack never came. Instead the dark-haired stranger relaxed into his embrace, breathing a sigh of relief. Her arms trustingly locked around his waist, while she burried her face in the soft of his shirt. Only now he realized she was shaking.

'What is it, pet?' He whispered, involuntarily cuddling her closer.

**Bloody hell, I'm loosing my fucking marbles!** he thought, when his hand soothingly slipped under her top. **First Buffy, now this Faith-chick... what is it about me and frigging slayers?**

Contrary to his silent debate, he placed a quick kiss on top of her dark curls.

'Spike?'

Their lips almost touched when the slayer picked this very moment to look up.

'Don't ya worry, sweets,' he managed to say. 'Spikey's gonna make it alright.' His voice was hoarse and barely audible when he forced the words out he never ecpected himself to say to a slayer.

But just as he'd expected, her face lit up.

'How did ya know it was me?' The girl asked, wonder all across her face.

This got him out of step.

'Eh...???'

While he was still wondering about the meaning behind her words, the brunette never stopped talking.

'...we were fighting...then she had this thingie...everything went green...and we switched...next thing I was on my way to England...'

The peroxide blond stared at her with his mouth open.

'Hold your bloody horses, kid,' he looked hard at the tiny figure in his arms. 'You wanna say you're... you're... you're bloody Buffy?'

When realisation dawned, they instinctively backed off.

But the moment he saw the tears forming in the little girl's eyes, Spike couldn't but pulling her back to his chest.

'C'mon, dearie, none of that,' he whispered. 'I'm here, nobody's gonna hurt you.'

The quivering stopped and a pair of hazel eyes found his gaze.

'You mean it?' She asked tentatively.

He fought hard, but for once decided to stick to the truth.

'You're my slayer,' he grunted finally. 'And nobody touches what's mine!'

Now it was up to her to fight for control.

For a long time they silently held each other's gaze.

Relaxing into the other's embrace they swayed with the music.

At peace with themselves, her head tucked unter his chin, in an embrace that couldn't get any closer... that's how they stayed for a long time.

'Spike...?'

'Buffy...?'

'HEY!!!'

***

With a furious scream a tiny blonde figure launched herself at the enwinded couple.

'You,' Buffy-Faith hisseed, hatred in her eyes. 'What is it about you?!?'

Before the real Buffy a chance to react her vampire companion had already jumped into action.

'Will you stop it already, slayer,' he barked at the girl by his side. 'Just because the two of us got all chummy doesn't mean...'

The sudden sparkle in the blonde's eyes was all he needed to see.

A triumphant smile on her face the girl held out her hand.

'Why don't ya check out ol' soulful,' she bitched, pulling Spike into her arms.

'Yeah, get lost,' the vampire hit into the same curb, all the while snuggling up closer.

His unbeating heart skipped, when tears formed in his little slayer's eyes.

Instinctively he knew, she felt set up, but there wasn't much he could do about it.

Not now.

In a rather poor attempt to ease her pain, he blew her a kiss behind the blonde's back. A kiss she chose to ignore. tears of betrayal running freely, she unceremoniously stormed off the dance floor.

Buffy, or more acurate Faith hadn't witnessed any of this.

Her face buried in the vampire's chest she happily swaied with the music.

'You mind us go someplace more... private?' Spike asked in what he hoped to be a seducive voice.

The girl in his arm stiffened, them allowed him to lead her out of the club.

They tumbled into the nearest wall, lips locked in the most passionate of kiss.

When the blonde broke away to grasp for some air, she couldn't but giggle.

'Anybody ever told you kissing the slayer's soooo wrong?'

The giggle turned into a hysteriacal fit of laughter.

Although Spike had already made up his mind, he quietly reconsidered his options.

**Buffy will be sooo mad...**

**At least as soon as she gets her body back.**

**Never mind!!!**

He shot the girl his best got me bait-hook-and-tackled smile then kissed his way down her yawline.

**Sorry, luv.**

Before she had a chance to react, he'd already sunk his fangs into her artery.

Uncaring about the pain he was causing, he quickly drained the girl to the point of unconsciousness. Hugging her liveless body close to his chest he heavily leaned against the wall.

'Well, I know you"re out there,' he exclaimed, scooping the knocked out slayer up in his arms. 'So why don't ya get here and gimme a hand!'

He was just about to retreat when a solemn figure stepped out of the shadows.

For several long minutes they quietly stood, estimating one another.

Spike was the first to give in. The most insecure look ever seen on his face he quietly held out his hand.

'Come here, luv.'

(Little later. In front of Giles' apartment.)

'You killed Buffy!!!'

The vampire never saw it coming when the furious watcher punshed him in the jaw.

Hit - Smack - Crack

In a strenght born out of agony the elder man rained a series of punshed on the totally unprepared and defenseless vampire.

'Bloody hell, watcher!' Spike growled, trying to shield himself and the girl in his arms from the Englishman's blows. 'Will you listen already!' And with a deadly look at the giggling brunette: 'Shut up, slayer and see for your old man to bloody get off of me back!'

The giggles stopped and Faith-Buffy quietly stepped in between the angry combatants.

'You!!!' Giles growled and was just about to perform a repeat perpormance when the brunette quickly rose her hands in defeat.

'Giles, it's me,' she shouted. 'The major pulled some black mojo on Faith, next thing I know I was in her body...'

For one second the watcher stared at the girl, eyes about to pop out.

'Y-y-you're saying y-y-you're...'

He shook his head in disbelief, leaving the sentence unfinished.

'Yeah, she's Buffy, so can we go in now!!!'

Never waiting for the watcher to reply, Spike pushed past the other man.

'Hey!' Buffy whined when the peroxide blonde not too gentle dropped what was her body to the floor.

'W-w-what...???' A look of utter irritation on his face, Giles stared at the unconscious figure.

'Sucked her dry,' the vamipre explained with the most wicked of smirks, which earned him a kick to his shine.

'What???' He miffed. 'I did.'

'Just ignore him, Giles,' Buffy said. 'I-she-we're gonna be alright. You can do some black mojo, too - switch me back…???'

'Yeah, Tweedie sure figure something out, so why don't ya in the meantime see for some shackles before Ms.-aggressive-much reclaims her footage!'

(A couple of hours later.)

'Well!!!' As soon as Buffy dozed off the watcher sternly turned at the peroxide blonde. 'You know it's impossible...'

The other man"s head shot up in an instant.

'Fuck you, watcher!' He growled, defensively. 'I didn't do this to her.'

He immediately lowered his voice when the sleeping brunette stirred in his arms.

'It's alright, sweetie,' he whispered, brushing a strand of brown hair of her face. 'Just go back to sleep.'

The former librarian watch him in awe.

'You know what I'm talking about.' Giles started what was supposed to be a lecture. 'You can't switch her back…'

'Just watch me, Watcher!' He was cut off by an extremely annoyed vampire. 'She hates to be trapped in that body…'

Although he didn't raise his voice, the message was clear.

'I am well aware that there is no such spell as to switch them back - but there might be a way to prevent them to switch in the first place…' The vampire took a deep unnecessary breath, waiting for his words to sink in.

'Well that might be something worth thinking about,' the watcher finally acknowledged with a frown. 'But what if you can't prevent it?'

For a couple of minutes both men remained silent, either lost in their very own thoughts. Then once again Spike the first to speak up.

'Listen, watcher,' he said in the most sincere of voice. 'Whatever it takes, I'm gonna fix her - and that's a promise!'

(The following morning)

'Okay, can we do this spell NOW?'

Bouncing up and down Faith-Buffy expectantly stared at the small crowed gathered in the watcher's living room.

'Yes.'

'No.'

'Spike' Giles shot a pointed look at the blonde, before he in far softer a voice turned towards the redheaded witch.

'You go ahead, Willow,'

'Yeah, you go ahead, Willow,' the vampire chided in rather strained a voice.

This chaught the s attention. Almost immediately the bouncing stopped.

'What is it, Spike?' She asked.

The vampire remained silent.

'Spike?' She tried again gently. 'Aren't you looking forward to be with the real me?'

She buried her face in the crook of his neck, wheasling her arms around his waist.

In lack of an answer he placed a kiss to her forehead, knowing this to be the last time.

'Love ya, sweets!' He whispered inaudibly, and little firmer. 'You go ahead, Red.'

(Six days ago. The Summer's residence.)

'Buffy, dug!!!'

Without as much as questioning the order, the s dropped to the floor.

Her head went up just in time to see the small of Faith's fist smash into her mom's cabinete. She quickly closed her eyes when a cloud of glass and slpinters rained down on her. When she looked up again the unconcious form of her fellow slayer unceremoniously collapsed to the carpet.

Spike!

'Hey,' she was just about to complain, when all of a sudden she was surounded by a flirring green lightning. Scared her eyes searched and found the blonde vampire.

For a split second she wondered how he possibly could have known about Faith and even if why he'd chose to come to her assistance.

However, she forgot about her irritation, the moment the glimmering blurr disappeared.

'What was that?' She grasped, wonder all over her face.

Spike silently thanked whatever Power that Be had been out there, for actually making him arrive in time. Then he turned to look at the girl with the cheekiest of smiles.

'Whatever it was, sweeting,' he grinned. 'It sure as hell didn't work!'
