They are not permitted to use their hands to feed themselves, and so on. Needless to say, they also serve in this modality. Another consequence of this position is that the girls eyes, in the specific act of her serving, do not meet those of the master. They are lowered before his, as one who submits. This is also reminiscent, in an experienced girl, of her training. Often in training, a girl is not permitted to look into the eyes of the trainer, unless he should specifically extend this permission. She then, commonly, is not permitted to break this lip position until either she kisses or is kissed. Needless to say, a girl cannot speak when her lips are in the unbroken, fully-pursed slave-lips position.
