Deodorant was another “trivial” item mentioned in the “First Things First” manifesto that apparently contributes “little or nothing to our national prosperity”.
Do these designers not realise that deodorant and body sprays are used to great extent by tens of thousands of people every day, all over the world? Or is that still not enough to constitute it as worthwhile design?
With a closer look it’s easy to see that a lot of work went into the design of these Lynx deodorant containers. Each comes with it’s own unique symbol that somehow illustrates the scent of the deodorant. The packaging is cool, masculine, modern and seductive.

Each fragrance is available in four types of packaging: deodorant bodyspray, roll-on stick, anti perspirant aerosol, and shower gel. The designer has to take this information into account in order to design four similar layouts for each container.
When I look at this set of Lynx deodorants I see useful, worthwhile, and valuable design.
