New Year's Lament
(I believe that I wrote this in fall 1996. Song is sung bluesy/jazzy--like a nightclub singer by/on a piano.))

It's New Year's Eve
And here I am
Sit here just wondrin'
      what to do
Sittin' here just like a
      crazy fool

Wonder where
you are tonite,
Knowin' that you're so
      far away,
Miss ya more an' more
      ev'ryday,
Wishin' there was somethin' more
      that I could say
But I'm Crazy,
I'm so gone over you

                    An' on this magical night
                    Are you holdin' someone tight?
                    Are ya gonna
                           kiss her
                               when that
                                  Big Clock strikes?
                    Are you
                           dancin' so close
                                that you can
                                    breathe her in?
